Birkat HaHammah: Blessing the Sun
On April 8, 2009, Jewish communities around the world will participate in a unique ritual that occurs only once every 28 years. Together, we will celebrate the return of the sun to its original place in the heavens at the precise time and day of creation by reciting Birkat HaHammah, a blessing on the sun.
