What does Jewish tradition teach about the environment? What can we learn from Jewish sources about food, consumerism, water and waste? Now you can go straight to the sources to learn – and build your own source sheet to teach others. On November 13, at the Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly, Jewcology announced the launch of a new Jewish Environmental Source Library, available online now at www.on1foot.org/environmental-library. Jewcology has been named one of the nation’s 50 most innovative Jewish nonprofits in Slingshot ’12-‘13, a resource guide for Jewish innovation. Yesterday, members of the Jewcology community attended “Greening America’s Congregations: The Faith Community and Energy Efficiency," organized and hosted by White House Office for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. The event brought together more than 100 faith leaders to talk about how we as the faith community can make a different in saving energy, saving money, and reducing emissions.
